Approximately five years ago the Booster club identified the need for facilities by the athletic fields north of the new high school which was completed in the summer of 1998. Availability of electricity for scoreboards or lights did not exist, there are no restroom facilities, nor is there any water for care of the fields or quenching the thirst of people who used the fields.

Since deciding to undertake this project the Booster Club has faced many hurdles including the fact that the cost of extending utilities (electricity, water and sewer) and construction of an adequate building was estimated to be $140,000 to $150,000. Through the Booster Clubs fund raising efforts, along with donations from alumni and other community members, $100,000 has been raised and construction of the building has begun. The building will house men and women restrooms, a concession stand area with covered patio and a large area for athletic storage. It is hoped that with the continued acquisition of funds that the building can be completed in the summer of 2005. The completion of the building will also open up many opportunities where the fields can be used for tournament and summer activities and be a revenue source for the hosting Winneconne athletic groups.

In conjunction with the building, the Booster Club is having a competition among the alumni and future classes of the Winneconne High School to see which class will be the leader in donations to the building project. At the dedication of the building the class donating the most money toward the project will be recognized.
